Shawn Mendes vaults to the top of the Official Trending Chart

By officialcharts.com

There's nothing holding Shawn Mendes back this week – his new single There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back tops the latest Official Trending Chart.

The Official Trending Chart is the UK's leading indicator of the freshest tunes making an impact this week, based on movement up the Official Singles Chart, and following its release last Thursday, There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back leaps 138 slots on the Update which helps it lead this week's trending countdown.

Lady Gaga's surprise release The Cure makes gains this week, as does Disciples' On My Mind, and Paramore's new single Hard Times is shaping up to be a Top 40 hit, according to the Trending Chart barometer.

Other new singles set to make an impact in the upper reaches of the chart soon are: French Montana's Unforgettable, feat Swae Lee; Lana Del Rey's Lust For :Life, feat The Weeknd, and, following the emergence of a version featuring Justin Bieber, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's Despacito.

G-Eazy and Kehlani's Good Life and Charlie Puth's new track Attention are also set to make waves in the coming weeks
The Official Trending Chart was launched in 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 single One Dance by Drake, and The Chainsmokers & Halsey's chart topper Closer.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).
